Important note regarding setup procedure

  • When sensors are first synced to the app, they are put into a hyper mode so that they transmit to the App or Display every one second.
  • This hyper mode is especially useful during installation and first setup, so that the app responds quickly as the tank is returned to upright and the liquid settles. After approximately 20 minutes, the sensor returns to normal mode which saves battery life.
  • In normal mode, the App or Display response time will naturally be slower. But during setup, or after disturbing tank position, this can lead to incorrect readings until everything settles.
  • Therefore, it is highly recommended during setup to either push the Sync button on the sensor to start hyper mode or allow extra settling time if left in normal mode, before judging sensor position/function.
  • Similarly, a longer distance between the phone or display effectively slows the response time as well. So even in hyper mode, distance may have a similar effect. Therefore, it is also highly recommended to either keep the phone or display close to the sensor during initial setup or allow extra settling time after returning tank to normal position.
  • In hyper mode, with device close to sensor, it should normally take less than 30 seconds to stabilize.
  • In normal mode, or with a longer distance between sensor and device, please allow at least 2 minutes settling time.

Most help desk questions are result of installation problems.

  • The black rubber pad should be in contact with the exact centre of the tank bottom.
  • Multiple layers of paint of well adhered paint are not a problem. But if the layers are not well adhered (typical of exchange cylinders), air gaps between the layers will cause problems. Clean the tank and scrape excess paint layers off.
  • Use the DSI Sonic grease between the rubber pad and tank, to fill any air gaps between the pad and tank. Sonic grease will delete the effect of surface rust and uneven tank surfaces.
  • If sensor is repositioned multiple times, consider reapplying sonic grease to ensure a layer of overage on the rubber pad.
  • When installed, the sensor must be level to the horizon so that it is parallel to the surface of the liquid inside the tank. If on a portable tank, make sure your tank is level. If the tank is sitting at an angle, the surface of the liquid will also be at an angle, sometimes causing incorrect readings.
  • Note that Pro sensors have a bubble level tool that may be used to ensure a level installed is in position
  • Both magnets should touch when installed. If only one magnet is touching, the sensor may not be level during use.
  • If the sensor can be contacted at all by the ground or tray, its position will be disturbed. Check for adequate clearance. (See FAQ’s about spacers and clearance.)
  • Generally, if experiencing a reading that looks incorrect or erratic, sometimes a slight reposition of the sensor will correct the problem.
  • If the tank is moving or vibrating it may degrade the measurement. Check when the tank and liquid are still to ensure correct performance.
